Alfred "Pop" Lane Mitchell

Alfred Lane Mitchell “Pop”, 84, of Wilson passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Danny Harris will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, March 19, 2025, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.

Lane was very devoted to his family. He was a great husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Lane was strong in his faith and a devoted member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church. He covered many miles across our state in his career as a truck driver.

Lane is survived by his loving wife of forty-two years, Faye Mitchell; children, Charlotte Beck, Richard Mitchell, Michael Jones, Cheryl Lyons and husband, Andy, Al Mitchell, Jr. and wife, Tracy, Dwayne Jones and wife, Brenda, and Elizabeth Dawson, and husband, Tony; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Mercer and husband, Windy; numerous loving nieces and nephews, and fur grandbaby, Bella.

He was preceded by his parents, Douglas and Ethel Mitchell; brothers, Douglas Mitchell, Jr., Wilbert Mitchell, and Estwood Mitchell; sisters, Louise Mintor, Nellie Mae Mundy, and Mary Fruege; son-in-law, Michael Beck and grandson, Seth Rothrock.
