Ann Daniel Lewis
May 6, 1933 – February 26, 2019
Ann Daniel Lewis, 85 of Wilson passed away Tuesday. Her funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Graveside will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The Rev. Tuck Taylor-Loveland will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 – 6:45 p.m. prior to the service and following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Wayne Lewis.
Ann served on the Middlesex Town Council from 1973 – 1981, Middlesex Methodist Church and Lay Leader and the Choir from 1945 – 2006, from 2006 – 2015 she attended Middlesex Baptist Church and was a member at West Nash United Methodist Church since 2015. Wilson Woman’s Club, Garden Club, American Homes and Fine Arts. Ann was awarded the Order of Long Leaf Pine in 1996 for her volunteer service in her community of Middlesex. In 1980 she was delegated to the Democratic Convention in New York.
Ann is survived by her husband, Joseph Harold Cooper of the home; daughter, Ellen of Middlesex and partner, Melinda; sons, Lu Harvey and wife, Becky of Middlesex and Wayne and wife, Sharon of Middlesex; grandsons, Andrew and wife, Jenna of Middlesex and Taylor of Middlesex and fiancé, Kristen; granddaughters, Morgan and Madison; great-granddaughter, Scarlett; sister, Lou Daniel O’Neal of Atlanta, Georgia and her sister-in-law, Fay Hogan Daniel of Chapel Hill.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of forty-two years, Luther Harvey Lewis.
