Anthony Scott Hayes

Anthony Scott Hayes 4/13/65 – 7/3/18 Anthony “Scott” Hayes, 53, of Wilson, passed away in his home on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, after a 4-year battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Victorious in that battle, he is now healthy, whole, and in the presence of our Lord and Savior in heaven. God is good all the time! Scott is survived by his wife, of twenty-seven years, Sonja Foltz Hayes of Wilson; son, Eric Jordan Hayes (girlfriend- Tiara Stanley) of Wilson; puppy, Vander Hayes; mother, Barbara Davis Herring of Wilson; sister, Kimberly Elaine Hayes of Wilson, and nephew, Brenner Hardison Cobb of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Hayes Jr., and brothers, Brian Spencer Hayes and Jeffrey Neal Godwin. Scott was a blessing and inspiration to so many people and a true servant to the Lord who always had a beautiful smile on his face. He was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Road, Wilson. The Rev. Justin Deeter will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-9 pm on Friday, July 6, 2018 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
