Anthony Joseph “A.J.” Verricchia, Jr. October 2, 1935 – October 3, 2017 Anthony Joseph “A.J.” Verricchia, Jr., 82, of Bailey passed away Tuesday. His funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at White Oak Hill FWB Church, Bailey. Interment will follow in Bailey Town Cemetery. The Rev. Hal Jones will officiate. The family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. A.J. served honorably and proudly in the United States Army. A.J. is survived by his wife, Nellie deKeyzer Verricchia of the home; daughters, Joy Murray of Plano, Texas and Cathie Ruggieri and husband, David of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Ashton Murray, Blake Murray, Chase Thomas, Huston Thomas and Hunter Thomas; step-brother, Johnny Verricchia. Born and raised in Durham County he was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Joseph and Cathleen Verricchia and a brother, Delano Verricchia.
