Arma Winstead Vaughan

Arma Winstead Vaughan “Mimi”, 89, of Elm City passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016. She was born on June 17, 1927 in Nash County. She was the daughter of the late Ed Winstead and Effie V. Winstead. She was a strong Christian woman who served her Lord faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and many other capacities. A mother and homemaker who loved her husband, family and friends with all of her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Vaughan; two brothers, Wade E. Winstead and Hulon Williams; and one sister, Inez Lascallette.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Mike Vaughan and wife, Cindy of Rocky Mount; one daughter, Angie Baker and husband, Randall of Elm City; six grandchildren, James Banicar and wife Janine of Charleston, SC, Will Vaughan of Everett, WA, Fischer Vaughan of Rocky Mount, Dylan Holloman of Greenville and Austin and Taylor Baker of Elm City.
Visitation will be Thursday September 1st from 7-9 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, NC and other times at the home of Mike & Cindy Vaughan. Her funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday September 2nd at Southside Baptist Church, 4948 Carter Road, Elm City, NC. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Wilson. Dr. Harry Fowler will officiate.
