Barbara Fearon Aycock
March 12, 1923 – December 14, 2017
Barbara Fearon Aycock, 94, of Elm City passed away Thursday. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson with visitation 1:00 -1:45 p.m. prior to service. The Rev. Paul Dunham will officiate.
Barbara was an educator and librarian for 30 years, serving mostly in Wilson County. She graduated with honors from Atlantic Christian College (Barton). Barbara also served her country with honor and pride as a WAVE in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Merry Sandra Aycock Kennedy and husband, Mike of Bullard, Texas and Carol Aycock Stevens and husband, John of Wilson; son, Gordon Brantley Aycock, Jr. and wife, Georgia of Elm City; granddaughters, Merry Aycock Sauls and husband, Chris of Wilson and Sarah Bankston and husband, Chris of College Station, Texas; grandsons, Will Aycock and wife, Emily of Wilson, Jeremiah Kennedy and wife, Leslie of College Station, Texas, Zach Stevens and wife, Holly of Greenville, Matt Stevens and wife, Ashley of Wilmington and John Michael Stevens of Wilmington; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Brantley Aycock, Sr.; parents, Carroll Dana and Grace Pomeroy Fearon; sister, Claire Pulrang; brothers, Dana Fearon and Christopher Fearon .
