Barbara Jan Bell Bobbitt, 79, of Wilson passed away Thursday.  A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson.  The Rev. Charles Robl will officiate. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Jan was a loving wife, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend and a devoted mother.  She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.  Jan was raised in Spartanburg, SC were she attended Converse College.  She graduated from Wake Forest College in 1956 with a Batchelor of Science then went to Bowman Gray.  Jan was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and worked with the Methodist Youth Fellowship with all three of her children. Jan is survived by her daughter, Carol B. Kappelle and husband, Ronald of New Bern; her son, James Dewey Bobbitt III and fiancée, Anne Loy of Wilson; her granddaughter, Brittney Tyson Bobbitt of Wilson; her grandson, Chadwick Martin Bobbitt of Wilson; her brother, “Buster” Walter T. Bell and wife, Carolyn of Spartanburg, SC and her nephews, Chip Bell, Keith Bell and David Bell all of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dewey Bobbitt, Jr.; her daughter, Susan Bobbitt and her parents, Walter Twitty Bell and Gertrude O’Dell Tinsley Bell.
