Barbara Jean Rice Green May 26, 1934 – December 26, 2015 Barbara Jean Rice Green passed away on December 26, 2015, at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Kilmarnock, Virginia, with family at her side. She was born on May 26, 1934, in Wilson, to the late Henry and Mittie Rice. Known as \"Jeannie\" to her friends and \"Gibby\" to her grandchildren, she was dearly loved by all. Her greatest passion was her family and she was never happier than when she had all of her children with her. She was a gifted artist and singer, and loved to garden. She was also passionate about playing bridge, politics and babies. She truly appreciated the beauty and blessings in her life. She is survived by her beloved husband Theodore Green; sister Betty Rice Weaver of Wilson; her children, Paula Sampsell and husband, Walter III of Warrenton, Virginia, Kenny Turner of Clifton, Virginia, Ellen Lane and husband, Troy of Heathsville, Virginia and Charlie Turner and wife, Trish of Jeffersonton, Virginia; stepdaughter Diane Kempton and husband, Reid of Mesa, Arizona; her grandchildren, Nicki Brakstad and husband, Brandon, Walter Sampsell IV and wife, Karen, Aaron McIlwee and wife, Erin, Jessie Nickel and husband, Joe, Joseph Sampsell and wife, Jennifer, Ben Lane and wife, Rachel, Jacob Lane; great grandchildren Charlene, Abbey, Ella, Walter V, Addie, Isabella, Joey, Lucy, Ava, Annie, Bryant, Charlie, Blair and Landon; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Joyner\'s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Rd Pkwy, Wilson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:15 - 2:15 at Joyner’s Funeral Home.
