Barbara Windham Turnage
August 27, 1938 – May 23, 2020
Barbara Windham Turnage, 81 of Wilson passed away Saturday. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Lewis Forsythe will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon prior to the service from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Barbara was a registered nurse at Wilson Medical Center for over forty-two years, she loved her patients and they loved her for all the compassion and care she gave them. She was an avid UNC basketball fan and reader along with her most passionate hobby her flowers and gardening them.
Barbara is survived by her son, Carlton Wayne Turnage and wife, Sharon of Elm City; daughters, Deborah Weseli and husband, Scott of Mississippi and Vickie Turnage of Wilson; grandchildren, Randy Duke, Mandy Duke and Bradley Weseli; great-grandchildren, Kayla Fulghum and Summer Fulghum and their father, Chris Fulghum; her loving cousin, Donald Rodgers and wife, Dixie; long time special friend, Dot Dudley and her special fur babies, Lexi and Byscuit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Turnage parents, Albert Carlton Windham and Minnie Pearl Flora Windham; sisters, Mary Cox and Ree Bass and her brothers, James Windham, Hubert Windham, Bill Windham and A.C. Windham.
