Bertis Joyner Deans
January 28, 1934 – June 14, 2018
Bertis “Bert” Joyner Deans, 84, of Sims passed away Thursday. His funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. The Rev. Sam Cullifer and Rev. Tim Johnson will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and or other times at the residence.
Bert was the owner and operator of Bert’s Antique Auto Restoration. He served his country with honor and pride with the U.S. Army. After serving in the Army he was the founding member of Bright Leaf Model A Club.
Bert is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Melva Holton Deans of the home; his daughters, Janine Mullen and husband, Carroll of Bailey, Cheryl Paul Pittman and husband, Gregory of Kenly, and Denise Paul of Missouri; sons, Michael Deans of Stantonsburg, and John Paul and wife, Ann of Wilson; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill Deans of Raleigh, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claudie Deans and Emma Berta Joyner Deans; sister, Lorrine Flowers, and his brother, Tom Deans.
