Bessie Leona Pittman Pridgen February 4, 1922 – November 4, 2015 Bessie Leona Pittman Pridgen, 93, of Wilson passed away Wednesday. Her graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Memorial Park, 2800 Nash Street, Wilson. The Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Watkins will officiate. The family will receive friends at home. Bessie was a supportive and loving farmer’s wife, mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother with a strong Christian faith. She loved preparing meals with all of her family gathered around the table. Bessie was a very independent lady who lived at home alone since her husband’s death in 1988 until she moved to Spring Arbor in 2012. Bessie is survived by her loving and devoted sons, James Pridgen and wife, Dianne of Sims, and Jerry Pridgen and wife, Lanette of Wilson; her grandchildren, Brian Pridgen and wife, Sarah of Wake Forest, and their three sons, Noah, Graham, and Ethan Jon of the home, granddaughter, Harper Pridgen Stryker and husband, Greg of Durham and grandson, Anderson Pridgen of Wilson and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Selby Pridgen; her parents, Ellen and Wade Anderson Pittman; her brothers, Aaron Pittman, Raeford “Jay” Pittman, and Willie “Bill” Pittman, and her sisters, Shirley Pittman, Mazelle Bunn, Lessie Haynes, Faye Taylor and Alice Turner. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pastor’s Fund, First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 3184, Wilson, North Carolina 27895. Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
