Bettie Mae Hinton Fulghum

Bettie Mae Hinton Fulghum October 26, 1916 – January 31, 2017 Bettie Mae Hinton Fulghum, 100, of Kenly passed away Tuesday. Her funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Marsh Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6664 Rock Ridge School Road, Kenly.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of her son, Larry. Bettie is survived by her daughter, Janet Louise Barnes and husband, Ray of Wilson; her sons, Raiford H. Fulghum and friend, Connie Pearce of Zebulon, James “Rabbit” Fulghum and wife, Janette of Snow Hill, Gerald Fulghum and wife, Linda of Rock Ridge, Larry Fulghum and wife, Judy of Rock Ridge, Grady Fulghum and wife, Mona of Wilson, and David Fulghum and wife, Elaine of Wilson; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Raiford C. Fulghum; son, Richard C. Fulghum; grandchild, Joy Fulghum; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Fulghum and Annette Fulghum; her parents, John Harris Hinton and Winnie Pinkney Hinton; five sisters and three brothers. The family would like to thank the staff at the Brian Center for being her care givers and her second family for the past ten years.
