Betty Holloman Hayes, 91, of Wilson passed away Tuesday.   Her funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 2512 Nash Street, Wilson.   Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.   The Rev. Keith Dey will officiate.  

The family will receive friends Saturday morning prior to the service from 10 – 10:45 a.m. at

the church.

  Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.  She was a dear friend to many and was known for her quick wit and wicked sense of humor.  Betty loved to play bridge, take part in activities at her church, and cook for her beloved children and grandchildren when they visited.  Betty was a long time member of the Ascension Lutheran Church, a homemaker and a volunteer for many years in the community.   Betty is survived by her daughter, Candice Hayes Hudson and husband, Billy of Raleigh; her son, William “Billy” Hayes, Jr. and wife, Susan of Holly Springs; her granddaughters, Amy Hudson, Madison Hayes and Shelby Hayes; her grandson, Eric Hudson; and her brother, Donald Holloman.   She was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey Hayes; her parents, Steven and Lillie Holloman; her sisters, Mary Holloman, Marjorie Durham, Virginia Saulter and Kathleen Porter and her brother, James Holloman.   In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ascension Lutheran Church, 2512 Nash Street, Wilson, NC  27896 or to a charity of one’s choice.   Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
