Billy Lewis October 15, 1922 – March 1, 2016 Billy Lewis, 93, of Sims passed away Tuesday. His funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The Rev. Anderson Barnes will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. Bill retired from the US Navy after serving his country with pride and honor for twenty-three years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4147 in Bailey and a member of Middlesex Baptist Church. Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Bunn Lewis of the home; his sons, Kent Lewis, Sr. of Willis, Texas, and John S. Lewis (Marie) of Lexington, South Carolina; step-daughter, Dixie Barteet (Earl) of Meggett, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Lewis of Raleigh; his sister, Susie Lewis of Middlesex, special nieces, Joan Neal, Sharon Keeter, Melanie Theriault, and Diane Wolf. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Lewis; step-daughter, Kitty Jones; grandson, Carroll Allen, Jr.; parents, Gilbert Lewis and Sudie Winborne; sister, Hannah Dillard, brother, Douglas Lewis; and his wives, Beverly Lewis and Kathleen Edwards Lewis.
