Blonnie Ellen Stott Stroud
March 27, 1927 – January 3, 2015
Blonnie Ellen Stott Stroud, 87, a resident of Shannon Gray Rehabilitation in Jamestown, formerly of Wilson, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015. Her funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Marsh Swamp Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6664 Rock Ridge School Road, Sims. A graveside service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. in Westview Cemetery, Kinston. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate.
The family will receive friends 10 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Blonnie Ellen grew up in the Rock Ridge Community on the outskirts of Wilson. She graduated from Rock Ridge High School and continued her education at East Carolina Teachers’ College (ECU) majoring in home economics. She worked as a home demonstration agent in Nash and Northampton counties. She also taught in Nash and Jones counties before moving to Fairfax County, Virginia where she later retired from teaching. She relocated to the Rock Ridge/Wilson area with her husband in 1992, moving to Jamestown in 2013. She was a member of Marsh Swamp OFWB Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Blonnie Ellen Stroud Garrison and husband, Jay of Centreville, Virginia; her son, William Archie Stroud, III of High Point; granddaughter, Janet Farrington Slagel and husband, Mark of Sunderland, Maryland; great-granddaughter, Siena June Slagel of Sunderland, Maryland; sisters, Emogene Boyette of Wilson and Janet Nichols of Sims and sister-in-law, Sue Stott of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Archie Stroud, Jr.; her parents, Grover Cleveland and Blonnie Lamm Stott and brother, Alsey Thomas Stott, III.
