Bonnie Draper Garris

Bonnie Draper Garris, 78 of Wilson passed away Saturday. Funeral services will be officiated by Dr. John F. Huckaby at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Stantonsburg, 313 S Main Street, Stantonsburg. Interment to follow in Stantonsburg Town Cemetery, Stantonsburg
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Bonnie graduated from Saratoga High School and was a retired Technology Assistant with the Wilson County Schools. She was the church hostess, choir member and youth director for many years. Bonnie loved her family and was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She loved God and served him faithfully.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband, Donnie H. Garris; sons, Marty Garris and wife, Andra, Bert Garris and wife, Amy both of Wilson, Butch Garris and wife, Erin of Durham, and her special son, Sergio Collar Arias of Alicante, Spain; grandchildren, Marty Garris, Jr. and wife, Jill of Southport, Tanner Garris, Parker Garris and R.J. Garris all of Wilson, McKinley Garris, Brenna Garris and Addy Garris all of Durham; great-grandchild, Camden Garris of Southport; brother, Bill Draper and wife, Edith of Fort Myers, Florida, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, P.W. “Purnie” and Lillie Pearl Draper, and her sister, Edith Draper Zimmerman.
The family would like to say thank you to Ann Durham, RN with Community Hospice, and Abby Daughtridge and Sharon Webb, her long-term care givers, for all their love, support and compassion given to Bonnie and her family.
