Bruce Elton Griffin

Bruce Elton Griffin, 96, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.   Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 4 at 2:00 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Reverend Michael Coppock will officiate.

Family will receive friends following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home.

Bruce was a member of the last 11^th grade graduating class of Bailey High School in 1944.  As a World War II veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Army in the Signal Corps, stationed in Trieste, Italy.  He was a charter member of the Bailey VFW Post 4147.  Bruce served his community as a barber at Griffin’s Barber Shop for fifty-two years.  He was a faithful member of Bailey Methodist Church for many years and will be loved and missed by many.

Bruce is survived by his daughters, Vicky Griffin of Bailey and Janet Griffin Pittman and husband, Jeffrey of Chesapeake, VA; sisters-in-law, Shirley Dew and husband, Bobby and Mavis Williams; and David Apple, who treated him like a father.

Bruce was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Dorothy Williams Griffin; parents, Jack and Eula Brown Griffin; sisters, Lessie Griffin and Vivian Griffin Terry; and brothers, Ernest Griffin and J.A. Griffin.
