C. Buren Williford September 18, 1934 – March 18, 2018 C. Buren Williford, 83, of Wilson passed away Sunday. His funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, 207 Tarboro N, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Gary Walling will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Buren was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was the owner/operator of Southern Piping Company, which opened in October 1965. Born in 1934, Buren was raised on a small farm in Gardners Township. He was a gifted athlete and played semi-professional baseball after graduation from high school. Buren was an astute businessman, a loyal friend, and fierce lover of his family. Throughout his life, he served in more leadership positions than can be remembered. These positions included N.C. Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors, Wilson County Economic Development Council, Wilson County Properties, The Salvation Army, State Building Commission, Barton College Board of Trustees, Wilson County Community College, and First Christian Church. He is survived by his beloved wife of sixty-two years, Peggy Strickland Williford of the home; sons, Chris Williford and wife, Nora of Wilson, Mark Williford and wife, Tina of Raleigh, and Tim Williford and wife, Marilee of Wilson, and his grandchildren, Sydney Wilkinson and husband, Buzz, Meredith Williford, Jackson Williford, Seth Williford, John Williford, Zaddock Williford, Griffin Williford, Davis Williford and Thorne Williford. Buren was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Elsie Braswell Williford, and a brother, Milton Williford. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to First Christian Church, P.O.
