C.A. Thompson, Jr.
July 24, 1935 – July 3, 2017
Charnie Altas Thompson, 81, of Wilson passed away Monday. His funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills Baptist Church, 1407 Forest Hills Rd. Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Justin Deeter will officiate.
The family will receive friends at 1 – 2:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to service.
C.A. was a faithful member of the Forest Hills Baptist church, an active member of the Wilson Jaycees, Wilson Rotary Club and served on many civic boards in Wilson. He was also a member of the Mount Lebanon Masonic Lodge and Wilson Shriners. C.A. thoroughly enjoyed his entire family, Lake Gaston, the Charles L. Coon Class of ’54 and traveling. His hobbies included antiquing, playing cards and tennis with his buddies. He also enjoyed his coaching days with the Wilson Recreation Department.
C.A. is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn M. Thompson; daughter, Lisa Passmore and husband, Keith; sons, Scott Thompson and wife, Vickie and Chris Thompson and wife, Kim; five grandchildren that he enjoyed and loved dearly, Scotty, Claire, Libby, Jordan and Matt, and many other family members, Jackie McKeel, Kay Baltzegar, Joyce Riley, Art Miller (Marsha) and many nieces and nephews that he loved so dearly.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Myrtie Carpenter Thompson; sister, Barbara Hare and brother, James Thompson.
