Captain Howard Clovis Boykin
May 21, 1953 – June 26, 2016
Captain Howard Clovis Boykin, 63, of Stantonsburg passed away Sunday. His funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Woody Parrish will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Howard is a retired Captain from the Wilson Fire Department where he served for twenty-two years. He was an Arson Investigator and an instructor, head of OSHA Committee for Wilson Fire Department, and part of the original Hazmat team. Howard loved his family, and his daughter, April, was the apple of his eye. He was known for his strong faith in God, his kindness and generosity. Howard loved to fish, hunt and cook.
Howard is survived by his daughter, April Higgins and husband, Joseph of Stantonsburg; his sisters, Melody Hampton and husband, Bill of Mount Victory, Ohio, Pamela Dudek and husband, Norman of Newport, Michigan, and Faye Wolterick of Kentucky; his brothers, David Boykin of Mount Victory, Ohio, James Graham and wife, Mary of Southgate, Michigan, and Danny Boykin of Texas; his former wife, Debra Paquin of Elm City, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Adam Douglas Boykin; his parents, John and Margaret Boykin, and brother, Douglas Boykin.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed in Howard’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
