Carolyn Howell Bissette

Carolyn Howell Bissette passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1 at home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 15, 1935, to Jim and Mae Howell of Bailey, North Carolina. She was married to Ronald Bissette on December 18, 1954.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Mae Howell, her brother James F. Howell, and her husband of 55 years, Ronald M. Bissette.

She is survived by her daughters Judy Hinton (Doug); Cynthia Batten (Freddy); grandchildren Shannon Hinton Sellers (Anthony); and Chris Batten; four great-grandchildren; Katlyn Elms (Steven), Scott Sellers, Katelynn Sellers, Carter Batten and one great-granddaughter Addilyn Elms; a host of extended family and her faithful yorkie Eva.

Carolyn was a member of New Sandy Hill OFWB Church. In her younger years, Carolyn was a telephone operator, and an employee of Bailey Garment Co. Her greatest calling was that of Wife, Mother and “Granny”.

A special thanks to her caregivers, Mary Toler, Cora Stanley, Sandra Strickland of Bailey and Sandra Strickland of Selma as well as Community Home Health and Hospice.

The funeral will be held at 6 p.m., on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Joyner's Funeral Home with the visitation immediately following. Rev. Anderson Barnes and Rev. Charles Petit will officiate. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, November 5, in the Bailey Town Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the home on Wednesday and Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m.
