Carrie Peacock March 20, 1940 – November 28, 2016 Carrie Mercer Peacock, 76, of Wilson passed away Monday, November 28, 2016. She was born to the parents, Ressie Lamm and Robie Mercer on March 20, 1940. Carrie was known for her cooking skills throughout Wilson. On holidays and any occasion that called for it, Carrie was there with her special dishes that everyone enjoyed. She was a friend to many and had a sense of humor that made her the life of the party. Carrie was an active member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church and was always ready to lend a hand when there was a need. Carrie graduated from Rock Ridge High School and attended Campbell University and Atlantic Christian College. She worked at Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf and owned her own catering business. Carrie managed a Landfill Business at Peacock Brothers Farm until her retirement. Carrie is survived by her daughters, Joanna Medlin and husband, Dennis of Wilson, and Hadley Peacock McManus and husband, Duncan of Raleigh; her son, Dennis Adams Peacock, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; her grandchildren, Adams Medlin, McEiver Medlin, Isabelle Peacock, and Walker Peacock; her sisters, Jean Bissette, Jennifer Lamm and husband, Charles, Susan Cribbs & husband, Dwight; her brother, Jerry Dean Mercer, and sisters-in-law, Catherine Peacock Wainwright and husband, Jack and Peggy Batts Peacock. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Adams Peacock, Sr.; her parents, Ressie and Robie Mercer; her brothers, Elmer Ray Mercer and Larry Allen Mercer, and brothers-in-law, Royce Bissette and Jim Peacock. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5843 Shiloh Church Road, Wilson. The family will receive friends Friday morning from 10 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Elwood Long will officiate. Flowers are welcome or memorials in Carrie’s honor can be directed to Shiloh Pentecostal Church, 5843 Shiloh Church Road, Wilson, North Carolina 27893 or to a charity of one’s choice.
