Catherine B. Holloman
WILSON – Catherine B. Holloman, age 91, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Born in Johnston County, NC on September 8, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Minnie Barbour. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Rudolph Holloman; her daughters, Elaine H. Goff and Janice H. Bovender; her sisters, Virtal Gardner, Inez Beasley and Sharon Ann Poole; her brother, JP Barbour.
Catherine was a long time member of The Salvation Army in Wilson, where she taught Sunday school for many years and built a ton of lifetime friendships. She enjoyed cooking for all the church events. Nothing made her happier than being with her family, she would always cook Sunday lunch and all the family would come. She was an amazing seamstress and was well known in the community as such. She gave so much of herself to her family, always putting everyone else’s needs before her own. Catherine will not only be remembered as a Woman of God, but also as the most patient, loving and amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to all. She touched the lives of so many, she will always be remembered with love by all.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Vandora Patterson of Wilson, Teresa Parker of Rocky Mount, Cathy Denton and husband, Scottie, of Middlesex; her sons, Linwood Holloman and wife, Pat of Wilson, and Ray Holloman and wife, Lynne of Clayton; son-in-law, Jim Bovender of Granbury,Texas, her grandchildren, Kenneth Goff and wife, Brenda, of Elm City, Kimberly Bandy and husband, John of Whitakers, Cindy Wise of Granbury, Texas, Tracey Martin and husband, Jeff of Wilson, Len Holloman of Wilson, Michael Bovender and wife, Elizabeth of Crowley, Texas, Renee Little and husband Tim of Elm City, Lindy Brewer and husband, Philip of Rocky Mount, Stacey Massengill and husband, Scott of Wilson, Leigh Anne Browning and husband, Michael of Speed, Christopher Denton and wife, Holly of Middlesex, Cody Holloman of Wilson, and Clifton Holloman of Clayton; 18 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Johnson and husband, Larry, of Clayton; her brother, Robert Earl Barbour and wife, Annie of Clayton; sister-in-law, Odessa Barbour of Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. A private burial will be held for the family. Major Jim Bovender, retired will officiate.
The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 5 – 6:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.
