Celia Darlene Ferrell Bailey

Celia Darlene Ferrell Bailey, 86, originally of Lucama, departed this life on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the home that she shared with her daughter and family in Youngsville, North Carolina. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in the Bailey Family Cemetery, Radford Road, Lucama. The Rev. Charles Stratton will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home, 125 Hunter’s Lane, Youngsville, North Carolina.
Darlene graduated from Lucama High School in 1948. She was voted “prettiest girl” in her senior class. However, she was the most beautiful in her gentle, sweet spirit. Though her family is confident that she is resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father, they will miss her deeply. The circle will be unbroken by and by.
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Celia Ann “Annie” Bailey Berger (Douglas) of the home; sons, Glen Bailey (Angie) of Stockbridge, Georgia, Alan Bailey (Joan) of Farmville, Greg Bailey (Sandi) of Rocky Point and Phil Bailey of Smithfield; sister, Audrey Ferrell Hinton of Wilson; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; niece, Hope Davis of Elm City; aunt, Mildred Hayes Bass of Wilson; sister-in-law, Peggy Cox Ferrell of Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenwood Seth Bailey, Sr.; parents, Allison Warren and Brona Bray Hayes Ferrell; brother, Jessie Elias Ferrell and her nephew, Colburn Warren Hinton.
