Charles Brochie Flowers, Jr., age 88, passed away on April 29, 2022. Born in Wilson County on December 23, 1933, he was the son of Charles Flowers, Sr. and Agnes Downing Boykin. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Jimmie Joe Flowers and Stella Walker and a stepson Michael Watson.
Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1953 -1955. Fishing, hunting, gardening, and cooking were his favorite activities. Spring and summer, you would him sitting on his stool planting in his garden or out on the water fishing. Fall and winter, he would spend time in the fields hunting. He enjoyed cooking and would have cookouts where everyone and anyone was invited.
Charles is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan Flowers; his children, Dawn Flowers of Rocky Mount, Mitsn Cannon and husband, Mark of Granite Falls, Ricky Watson and wife Tammy, of Longs, South Carolina and Terry Watson Wiggs of Wilson; grandchildren, Meredith Bowen and husband Mike of Concord, Lauren Scarboro and husband Chad of Charlotte, Julie Davis of Charlotte, Drew Williams of Rocky Mount, Blythe Teachey and husband, Justin of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Charlie Wiggs of Raleigh, Keaton Wiggs of Wilmington, Rick Watson, Jr. of Charlotte, Heather Watson of Raleigh, Amanda Watson of Beech Mountain, and Lea Watson of Wilson; great grandchildren Laura Ann and Max Bowen of Concord, and Davis and Kate Scarboro of Charlotte.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at 2:00pm at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 5142 NC 58N, Wilson, North Carolina. Interment will follow service in Evergreen Memorial Park. A visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. at New Hope Baptist Church.
