Charles D. Moore

Charles “Coach” D. Moore, 87, of Wilson left this earth peacefully in his home with his son by his side on Monday, November 25, 2013. “Coach” will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed time with his family and friends. He loved golf, deep sea fishing and spent many hours with dear friends enjoying the outdoors. “Coach” graduated from Greenwood High School, in Greenwood, Mississippi in 1943 and continued to live in Greenwood where he contributed to the community until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Kiwanis, Little Theater and a very active member of First Presbyterian Church. “Coach” took over operations of the family business, the Moore & McDavid car dealership in 1963, and operated it until it was sold in 1988. “Coach” and his wife, Chris, retired to Tennessee to be near their children. He was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church. In May of this year, he moved to Wilson, NC to be near his son, grandchildren, and great-grandson. The family honors and appreciates his service to our country during War World II and will remember him as being a loving, humorous story teller and a gentle person who loved life and portrayed that love in all he did. Coach is survived by his daughters, Gail A. Moore and husband, Jim of Nashville, TN and Melanie C. Moore of Dallas, TX; his son, Bryan Moore and wife, Lynn of Wilson; his granddaughter, Isabella Chacon; his grandsons, Greg and Jeff Moore and Evan Chacon and his great-grandson, Tyler Moore. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Christine A. Moore and his parents, Charles and Grace Davis. Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
