Charlie Franklin Bridgers, 65, of Sims, formerly of Kenly passed away Thursday after a long battle with cancer.  A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in Stancil’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 42 W, Kenly.  The Rev. Dennis Pollock will officiate. The family will receive friends at 335 Bridgers Road, Kenly. Charlie was born in Johnston County on February 4, 1949 to the late Melvin and Mildred Jackson Bridgers.   He served his country with honor and pride with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  Charlie was retired from Saint Cobain in Wilson after many years of service. Charlie is survived by his brother-in-law; Frank Hart of Angier; his cousins, Charles Bridgers and wife, Jeanette of Kenly, Diane Sanders of Nashville, Dale Poland of Rocky Mount, Doug Lucas and his family of Rocky Mount, LC Jones and wife, Anne of Warsaw, Mary Lynn Massengill of Four Oaks, Sammy Bass and wife of Tennessee and Susan Parrish Kostelecky and husband, Howard and their son, Phillip of Kenly; a special loved one and care giver, Diane Jerrell of Sims and Christian Durham of Kenly; a special lady, Winnie Salvide of Raleigh for all her visits and food and a dear friend, Lynn Hines of Cary and Steve Copper of Kenly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy E. Bridgers; his parents, and his special sister, Eleanor Bridgers Hart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. C.A. Thompson, 1207 Peachtree Road, Wilson, NC  27896. Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net.
