Charlotte Helen Uhrig Murphy

Charlotte Helen Uhrig Murphy, 80, of Wilson passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Rev. Ray Barnhill and Rev. Justin Deeter will officiate. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, and other times at 1005 Kenan St., Wilson. Charlotte was born December 11, 1933, in Stuttgart, Germany, the daughter of the late Robert and Sofia Ziegler, and became a proud American citizen in the late 1950’s. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and a loyal member of the Wilson WalMart family. Charlotte was an active member of the Wilson Senior Center where she was a friend to all and enjoyed the weekly jams. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her daughter, Pamela “Pam” Murphy Whitley and husband, Forbes of Wilson; her son, Howard P. Murphy, Jr. and wife, Betty of Wilson; one granddaughter, Catherine Murphy of Wilson; one sister-in-law, Connie Murray of Maysville, KY; one brother-in-law, James Murphy and wife, Sybil of Selma, AL; a nephew, Carl Murphy, Jr. and wife, Helen of Castalia; a step-granddaughter, Shannon DuSablon and husband, Gabriel of Wilson; a step-grandson, Ashley Whitley of Wilson; several step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her best friend, Helene Colston of Wilson. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Howard P. Murphy, Sr., and her parents, Robert and Sofia Ziegler.
