Christine Moore Wells

Christine Moore Wells, 86 of Wilson passed away Monday, July 29, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Ray Barnhill will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.

“Granny” retired from Belks and was an avid Duke basketball fan. She was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a faithful member of Forest Hills Baptist Church where she served with a joyful heart. Granny loved to attend ballgames and dance recitals to watch her wonderful grandchildren. She was the happiest when she was cooking for her family, especially making cakes. Granny was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and a friend to all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed and thought of often with heartfelt memories.

 Granny is survived by her daughter, Tammy Autry and husband, Jeff of Wilson; sons, Rickey Wells and wife, Lynda of Elmswell, England, Robert Wells and wife, Wendy of Wilson, Timmy Wells and wife, Angie of Bailey, and Mike Wells of Wilson; grandchildren, Corey Autry and wife, Byonca, Ryan Wells, Haley Wells, Leia Autry, Bradley Wells and wife, Taylor, Allie Coggins and husband, Graham and Lauryn Wells; great-grandchildren, Amy, Ava, Bentley, Ivey and Riley; sister, Ruth Lovitt of Farmville; her brothers, George Moore, Jr. and wife, Judy, and David Moore and wife, Paulette both of Farmville, and many nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years, Donald Wells; parents, George Washington and Mary Elizabeth Mozingo Moore; sister, Mary Braxton, and her brothers, Roy Moore and Gene Moore.
