July 30, 1931 – October 13, 2014

Clara Etheridge Eatmon, 83, of Wilson passed away Monday.  A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Clara was a loyal and dedicated teacher, retiring from the NC School for the Deaf after many years of service.  She was a longtime member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.  Clara was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Clara is survived by her husband, Bryce Edward Eatmon, Sr. of the home; her sons, Bryce Edward Eatmon, Jr. and wife, Marcia of Wilson and James Clark Eatmon and wife, Cathy of Wilson; her granddaughters, Sharon Eatmon Mattheisen and husband, Jacob of Reno, Nevada, Christin Eatmon Britt and husband, Michael of Durham, and Melissa Nicole Eatmon of Wilson; her grandson, Bryce Edward Eatmon, III and wife, Ashley of Nags Head; her three great-grandchildren, Finn Mattheisen, Owen Mattheisen and Kori Eatmon; and her brother, Owen Ethridge and wife, Frances of Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Leslie and Georgia Owen Etheridge and her two brothers, Clark Etheridge and Norman Etheridge. The Eatmon family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Community Home Care and Hospice for the loving care provided to their mother.
