Clifton "Starky" Wells

Clifton “Starky” Wells, 78 of Lucama passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Inurnment will follow in Kenly Cemetery, Kenly. Pastor Donnie Williams and Pastor Ray Parker will officiate. 

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. 

Starky was born in Johnston County in Shoehill. He was employed with W.M. Wiggins Plumbing and Heating for over forty years. Later he was employed at Wilson Medical Center, as the Maintenance Supervisor and retired in March of 2012. He enjoyed racing, fishing, and reading. Most of all he loved his family with all his heart.

 Starky is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Ann Tew Wells of the home; son, Keith Wells and special daughter-in-law, Tina of Wilson; grandsons, Tyler Wells and fiancé, Anna Barnes of Wilson; Drew Wells of Wilson; his cat, Lacy which was his alarm clock; his grand dogs, Copper and Buoy; sisters, Betty Lamm of Lucama, Marie Allen of Farmville, Judy Narron and husband, Ralph of Lucama, Mae Perry and husband, James of Lucama, and Joyce Pope of Pine Level; brother, Lonnie Wells, Jr. of Lucama, and his sisters-in-law, Brenda Bunn and husband, Don of Wilson, and Wilma Tew of Lucama.

 He was preceded in death by his son, Clifton Randy Wells; and his road partner, Maggie, the dog; parents, Lonnie Wells, Sr., and Esther Massengill Wells; maternal grandparents, Bradley and Garlie Massengill; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Anna Wells; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Wells, and his brother-in-law, Buddy Tew.
