Colette Elizabeth Mercer Page, 89, of Wilson passed away Saturday. Her funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5843 Shiloh Church Road, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Elwood Long will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, November 2, 2015 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of her daughter, Beverly.
Colette is survived by her daughter, Beverly P. Boyette and husband, Rob of Rock Ridge; her son, Ronald O. Page and wife, Lynn of Cary; step-sons Billy P. Page and wife Ann and Buddie H. Page and wife Agnes, of Wilson; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her sisters, Muriel Stancil of Wilson, Joyce Malpass and Yvonne Barnes, both of Florida, and her brothers, Newton Mercer of Florida and Louis Mercer of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Thorne, who was killed in World War II. Oliver Page, her husband of 42 years and father of her children, died in 1995. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Dock and Sadie Worrell Mercer; sisters, Allie Lamm, Louise Pike, and Vernell Pearson, and her brothers, Johnny Mercer, and Arden Mercer.
Colette was the oldest living member of Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church and active in the church while in good health. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Woman’s Ministries member, and enjoyed trips with the Prime Timers. She made many special quilts that she shared with her children and grandchildren.
Colette retired from Square D in Knightdale, N.C. Colette enjoyed her garden and spent summers freezing and canning fruits and vegetables. She was known for wonderful pickles, homemade soup, and fried chicken. She spent much of her time outside working in her yard. She loved to share her experiences of traveling to the Holy Land with family and friends.
