Connie Musi Swartzwelder passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by family.
A funeral mass will be held Thursday November 3rd at 1:00 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 700 Nash Street, Wilson.
Connie was born in Clarion, Pennsylvania on June 22, 1939 to the late Nellie Matzie Musi and Vincent Peter Musi. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Rose Jean Meisinger and Giovina Musi Bradley.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Thomas Merle Swartzwelder, and her children Thomas Jude Swartzwelder (Kelly) and Catherine Swartzwelder Pittman. In addition, her grandchildren the “Party of Five”, as she referred to them; Madison McGovern (Mike), Macon Swartzwelder (Chad), Benjamin Swartzwelder, John J. Farris III, and Mary Catherine Farris. She is also survived by her sister, Josephine Musi Rakow and several nieces and nephews.
Connie graduated from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania, with a degree in Home Economics and East Carolina University where she earned a Master’s degree. Connie was a lifelong educator having taught and counseled at Greenfield School, Northern Nash High School, Nash Community College, and Atlantic Christian College/Barton College where she also served as assistant to the Dean of the College. She was an active member of St. Therese Catholic Church for 47 years.
The family is grateful for the loving care and compassion provided by Angela Barnes, Bonita Applewhite and Lisa Palmer Harris.
