David Crisp Adkins

David Crisp Adkins June 9, 1939 – January 10, 2019 David Crisp Adkins, 79, of Wilson passed away Thursday. A private service will be held. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 5 – 7 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. David came to Wilson as Athletic Director and to start the soccer program at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College. Following his time at Atlantic Christian College, David began work at New York Life Insurance where he worked until the present. David was a devoted husband of fifty-six years, a caring father to his four children and the best Papa to his ten grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time at the beach and with his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Susan Rush Adkins of the home; daughters, Kim Foster and husband, Brian of Wilson, Amy Allen and husband, Jim of Raleigh and Callie Smith and husband, Lee of Morehead City; son, Greg Adkins and wife, Kristi of Wilson; grandchildren, Zack and Matt Foster, Edwin and Adkins Allen, Susie and Baker Smith, London, Logan, Kathryn and Caroline Adkins and his brothers, Jimmy Adkins of Virginia and Mickey Adkins of Kinston.
