David Manning May 22, 1952 – July 6, 2019 David Manning, 67 of Elm City passed away Saturday evening.  His funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Boulevard West, Wilson.  Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.  Pastor Joe Shakour will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 – 7 p.m. prior to the service at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Wilson and other times at the home. David was proud to serve his country and did so with honor with the Army National Guard.  He started at Metro Maintenance as the first maintenance man and retired after thirty-two years. David was a loving husband, father, Big Daddy, brother and a leader to his family and friends.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all of those who loved him. David is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Rae Winstead Manning of the home; daughter, Amy Petty and husband, Steve of Elm City; son, David Manning, III and wife, Jessica of Rocky Mount; his mother, Dollie Mae Williams of Rocky Mount; grandchildren; Danielle Nicole Petty, Lauren Paige Petty, Kylie Elizabeth Mae Petty, Steven Reid Petty, Carson Parker Manning, Savannah Rae Manning and Austin Chase Manning; sisters, Della Parrish  and Carol Hyde both of Nashville and his brothers, Robert Manning of Battleboro, Tim Manning of Elm City and James Joyner of Rocky Mount. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Manning.
