David Stanley Orcutt

David Stanley Orcutt August 10, 1942 – May 18, 2015 David Stanley Orcutt was born in Richmond, Virginia. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Lucille. David is survived by his wife, Pamela Smith Orcutt; sons David Britt (Evette) of Clayton, and Chad (Amy) of Berwyn, Pennsylvania, and stepdaughter (“daughter”) Mary Anna Edmonds of Arlington, Virginia. He is also survived by five grandchildren; David James and Daniel of Clayton; and Jackson, Price and Tilly of Berwyn, Pennsylvania. David was extremely proud of and loved his family enormously. David graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 1964 with a B.S. in Business Administration. In 1967, he graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Juris Doctorate with Honors. He interned with the School of Government, NC Law Review and was a member of the Order of Coif. He was admitted to the NC State Bar in 1967 and served as a Clerk for Justice Susie Sharp from 1967-1968. David practiced law in Wilson from 1968 until 2009, when health issues made retirement a necessity. He practiced with Lucas, Rand, Rose, Meyer, Jones, and Orcutt through 1999. He was a member of the Wilson County Bar Association and served as its President. He was also a member of the NC State Bar and served on the Education Council. David was very civic-minded. He was past Chairman and President of the Wilson Jaycees and won the Distinguished Service Award in 1973, and Chairman and President of the Sertoma Club. He served on the local board of First Citizens Bank for the past 25 years, board of Wilson Memorial Hospital, and Board of Realtors. David loved his church, St. Timothy’s Episcopal, serving as an usher, lay reader, and a breakfast cook. He served two years on the Vestry and was Junior Warden during his final term. The family would like to thank Dr. Keith Lerro, Dr. Margaret Metts, Dr. Will Bynum, Dr. Nirav Jasani, and their staffs for their exceptional care. A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 202 N. Goldsboro Street, Wilson on Wednesday, May 20th, 2015 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church – Capital Improvement Fund, PO Box 1527, Wilson NC 27894; Wilson County Humane Society, PO Box 7064, Wilson NC 27895, or a charity of one’s choice.
