Deborah Lane Batchelor
August 2, 1952 – June 17, 2018
Deborah Lane “Dumpy” Batchelor, 65, of Wilson passed away Sunday. A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the residence. The Rev. Benny Wayne Poythress will officiate.
“Dumpy” was the owner and operator of Humpty Dumpty’s Day Care Center for over twenty years. Her passion in life was caring for and loving kids. “Dumpy” also assisted her husband, Ray, as a bookkeeper at Art’s Auto and Radiator Services.
“Dumpy” is survived by her loving husband, of forty-eight years, Ray Batchelor of the home; her son, Jeffery Batchelor of Wilson; granddaughter, Sammantha Rae Batchelor; her grandsons, Tyler Austin Mitchell, and Richard Scott Mcnamara; great-grandson, Jasper Mack Holloman; her brother, Steven A. “Dicky” Lane of Raleigh; father-in-law, Art and mother-in-law, Jean Batchelor of Wilson; sister-in-law, Rhonda Shore of Wilson, and her nieces, Amanda, Lynn, Kelly, Melinda, Stephanie and Melissa.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Heather B. Mitchell; parents, Rudolph Anderson Lane and Pearl Hamm Lane, and her sister, Brenda L. Winstead.
