Deborah Taylor Carson

Deborah Taylor Carson November 28, 1952 – September 5, 2019 Deborah Taylor Carson, 66, of Wilson passed away Thursday.  Her funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m.  Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.  Interment will follow in Kenly Town Cemetery, Kenly.  The Rev. Steve Strickland will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of her sister, Jeanette Batts. Deborah came to live with her mother, and they shared many happy years together before her mother’s health deteriorated. Then Debbie became the most dedicated caregiver to her mom. Everyone could see the love and devotion she showed to her. She always said to her, “Mom, go get your walker!”. Mom lovingly nicknamed her “The General”. Debbie was married to Lee Carson from 1988-2014. He was the true love of her life. She was the perfect sister to Jeannette and her hero. They shared so many inside jokes and were the best of friends. They would just look at each other and start laughing for no reason. Jeannette was able to be a caregiver to Debbie at the end of her life and Jeannette said that it was an honor. Debbie loved her niece and nephew like they were her own children. She shared a love of reality TV with her niece and a love for music that she shared with her nephew. She had so much respect and love for her niece’s husband. She loved coloring and playing Chinese checkers with her great-nieces and enjoyed being around them and telling them stories about her life. Debbie was a loyal friend. Debbie and her spades partner Louise Harris could not be beat. Debbie also claimed that she was the world’s best canasta player and believed it to be true. She knew so many facts about musicians and her knowledge was unparalleled. Deborah is survived by her mother, Mary E. Taylor of Wilson; sister, Jeannette T. Batts and husband, Jim of Wilson; niece, Jessica Rothstein and husband, Philip of Wake Forest; nephew, Trey Taylor of Raleigh and her great-nieces, Bella Rothstein, Sophia Rothstein and Lilly Rothstein. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Carson; father, L.E. Taylor and her brother, Larry Edgerton Taylor.
