Donald Lee Cockrell, Sr. December 6, 1938 – November 15, 2016 Donald Lee Cockrell, Sr., 77, of Kenly passed away Tuesday. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Buckhorn United Methodist Church, 8102 Hwy 42 N, Kenly. Interment will follow in New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery, 1461 Jerusalem Church Road, Kenly. The Rev. Dave Aman and Rev. Andy Cockrell will officiate. The family will receive friends 1 – 6 Saturday at the home, 7508 NC 222 W, Kenly. Donald is survived by his sons, Donny Cockrell and wife, Fran of Snow Hill, Doug Cockrell and wife, Cary Lane of Kenly and Rev. Andy Cockrell and wife, Dawn of Kenly; his grandchildren, Shelley Thompson, Starr Sutton and husband, Brandon, Matt Cockrell, Amanda Scott and husband, Garrett, Valerie Stewart, and Alayna Cockrell; five great-grandchildren, and his brother, Thel Cockrell and wife, Goldie of Kenly. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Renfrow Cockrell; parents, Avery and Lenora Cockrell, and his brother, Ronald Cockrell.
