Donald Duane Baker
January 6, 1946 – July 31, 2015
Donald “Papa” Duane Baker, 69, of Wilson passed away Friday. His funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Dan Jones will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He was retired from Saint Gobain Containers after thirty-three years of loyal service. Donald served his country with honor and pride during the Vietnam War with the US Navy. He was a member of VFW in Rocky Mount and the American Legion Post 153.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Jeannie Louise O’Neil Baker; his daughters, Tina Baker Dail, Tracy Baker Sanford, Tammy Baker Sutton and husband, Todd all of Wilson; his son, Larry Lester Baker of Wilson; his grandchildren, Tiffany Sanford Hill, and husband, Michael, Toni Sanford, Taylor Dail, Trey Dail and Wyatt Sutton; his great-grandchildren, Trenton Willoughby, Trinity Bolden, and Torah Bolden; his brother, Joseph Baker and wife, Michelle of Franklin, Pennsylvania, loving nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Elizabeth Baker and his brother, Larry Lester Baker.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made in Donald’s honor to the Evansdale United Methodist Church, 4334 Evansdale Road, Wilson, NC 27893.
