Donald Aaron Thorne

Donald Aaron Thorne, 70, passed away on Tuesday, December 12.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 3:30 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  Interment will immediately follow at Barnes Williams Cemetery, Wiggins Mill Road, Wilson.  Pastor Lee Britt will officiate.

Family will receive friends on Friday, December 15 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Joyner’s Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Donald was a faithful employee of Firestone for thirty-one years.  He was a devoted Christian and loved his church and all the members.  Above all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Williams Thorne; daughter, Donna Sue Thorne Bjur and husband, Paul of Lucama; grandson, Jaxson Bjur of Lucama; sister, Linda Driver and husband, Randall of Lucama; sister, Brenda Tedder and husband, Thomas of Sims; brothers, Charles Thorne and wife, Judy of Wilson, Thomas Thorne and wife, Cathy of Lucama, and Tony Thorne of Lucama; and special niece, Michelle Mattox and fiancé, Andy Speer.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Carlie Thorne and Mildred Jones Thorne and his son, Timothy Aaron Thorne.
