Donna Wood Barham
March 17, 1953 – October 23, 2020
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donna Wood Barham. Friday, October 23, 2020, she passed away peacefully at her home in Middlesex after a short battle with cancer. She was born March 17, 1953, the only daughter to the late George and Dorothy Wood.
Donna is survived by her husband, Wayne Barham; daughter, Amy Jones Brooks and husband, Sammy of Middlesex; grandchildren, Kimber Limon and husband, Josh of Zebulon and Brodie Brooks of Middlesex; great-grandchild Daniel Limon; brother Graham Wood and wife, Brenda and several nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
She is proceeded in death by her brother, Charles Wood.
Born and raised in Middlesex, Donna returned in the early ’80s to raise her only child in the home she grew up in. For many years she traveled into Raleigh to work but her true passion was with children. Shortly after her first grandchild was born, she decided to babysit. She was a loving and devoted babysitter to many. Donna loved being “Mimmy” to her grandchildren and those blessed to stay with her. When the kids started school, she went to work with Nash County Child Nutrition in the cafeteria at Bailey Elementary, where she formed lifelong friendships and cared for many children. After retirement, she was able to babysit her great-grandson for his first year. “Mimmy” will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at Middlesex Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will be 5:00-6:30 and a memorial service from 6:30-7:00. Please join us as we remember the life of this beautiful soul.
Because children enrich our lives, she would be honored to have donations made to Middlesex Baptist Church in care of Backpack Buddy Fund P.O. Box 369 Middlesex, North Carolina 27557.
