Doris Flowers Davis
October 8, 1932 – September 8, 2021
Doris Flowers Davis, 88 of Rock Ridge Community passed away Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marsh Swamp Original FWB Church, 6664 Rock Ridge School Road, Sims. Entombment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Rev. Ray Wells and Rev. Phillip Boykin will officiate.
The family will receive friends Friday evening at 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Doris was a loving wife, mother, and friend. As a farmer’s wife, she supported her husband and family while serving in several public position. She always made everyone that she met feel special. Doris loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, 4H and the Arts. She was proud of each child’s accomplishments. She loved and actively participated in the many facets of Marsh Swamp Original FWB Church and the Rock Ridge community. Doris spearheaded the Rock Ridge Woman’s’ Club, American Red Cross Blood Drive for many years. She was recognized with the Life Membership Certificate from Free Will Baptist Women’s Auxiliary of the Marsh Swamp FWB Church Chapter. One of her most admirable characteristics was her faith in Christ, our Lord.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Gail Davis Bennett of Rock Ridge, and Kim Davis Sparks and husband, Craig of Whispering Pines; sons, Floyd Ray Davis and wife, Sharron of Rock Ridge, and Tim Davis and wife, Terry of Rock Ridge; grandchildren, Nicole Cox, Will Batts, Spencer Davis, Tyler Sparks, Russell Davis, Tim Sparks, and Courtney Mathews; great-grandchildren, Travis Cox, MacKenzie Cox, Emma Batts, Liam Batts, Billeigh Mae Batts, Carson Davis, Benjamin Davis and Olivia Davis, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jesse “Doodie” Floyd Davis, Jr.; parents, Johnnie Williams Flowers and Mittie Downing Flowers; grandchildren, Amanda Raye Batts, and Ray Davis, Jr.; brother, Johnnie Williams Flowers, Jr., and her sister, Laura Flowers Barnes.
