Doris M. Kuster

Doris M. Kuster (nee Miller) of Elm City, NC, formerly of Toms River, NJ, aged 92 passed on Sunday, September 1 in the presence of her daughter Diane and her son Robert at home. Doris was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up in Germany during the Second World War. Upon her return to the United States in 1948 Doris worked as a nanny and then worked the sales counter at Pearl's Bakery in Jersey City. Doris also worked for Oakite in New York City up until her first child was born. Doris also worked at Greywell, a state-run group home for special needs children in Mantoloking, NJ. 

It was during night school at Dickinson High School that Doris met her husband of 65 years. Doris was an avid knitter and owned the Yellow Bird Yarn Shop first in Ortley Beach, NJ and finally in Lakewood, NJ up until her retirement. 

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her sister Margaret of Fallingbostel, Germany, brother, Paul of New Jersey and her father, Paul Mueller and mother, Martha Mueller (nee Janke). In addition to her daughter, Diane Kuster of Elm City, NC and son, Robert Kuster of Silver Spring, MD, Doris is survived by her daughter, Deborah Terrell (George) of Rhome, Texas. She is also survived by her grand dogs, Brutus, Tara and Nola.
