Doris Joyner Phinizy
December 15, 1933 – October 6, 2020
Doris Joyner Phinizy, 86 of Elm City, passed away Tuesday at home with her family. She is the daughter of the late Clifton and Mildred Anna Joyner and preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Carl Lee, Mack, and Alvin Joyner and her grandson, Lyle M Ramon.
A private family viewing was held October 7, 2020 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. There will be a private family memorial service in the family cemetery on Saturday October 10, 2020 at 2:00 pm.
She is survived by her children, Polly and Tom Bare of Diamondhead, Mississippi, Ann and Robbie Patterson of Elm City, Carol and Michael Shoemaker of Bruce, Mississippi and Charles Phinizy of Stanton, Virginia. She was the grandmother of Angela Easley, Melanie Lane, Gabriel Thompson, Michelle Aguiar, Skye Phinizy and Rayne Phinizy; great grandchildren, Lilly Fox, Austin Fox, Lyle Ramon III, Jerek Lane, Lexi Lane, Taylor Thompson, Tristan Thompson, Isaiah Thompson, Gabriella Machado, Caroline Thompson, Victoria Aguiar and Melaina Aguiar; great-great grandchildren, Mckenna Fox, Levi Lane and her sisters, Barbara Liles, Becky Williams and Alice Joyner.
Doris was very family oriented as well as spending numerous hours volunteering for Nash General Hospital and Community Home Care and Hospice.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice and her caregivers for their support and loving care given during her time of need.
