Dorothy Marie Joyner September 27, 1924 – April 13, 2016 Dorothy Marie Joyner passed away at the age of ninety-one at home with her family by her side. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Town Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Tim McFatter will officiate. The family requests casual dress. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Joyner (Bud) of Wilson, and Phyllis Davis (Pat) of Elm City; a son, Jimmy Joyner (Patty) of Virginia; two grandsons, Michael Whitley (Kim) of Wilson and Chris Joyner (Kari) of Virginia, and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Whitley of Wilson. Mama loved to watch her westerns and loved her cats. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Tonya Little and the staff at hospice; Amy, Jean, Sheila and Mary for their love and hard work taking care of our mama.
