Dorothy Mae Tant April 3, 1944 – May 14, 2018 Dorothy Mae Tant, 74, of Elm City, NC, died Monday, May 14, 2018, at Wilson Medical Center. She was born April 3, 1944 in Wilson County, NC a daughter of the late William “Billy” Edward and Alice Mae Trevathan Gardner. Dorothy was a graduate of Elm City High School class of 1962. She was retired from Cox Direct where she worked in the accounting department. Mrs. Tant loved her church. Dorothy loved her family and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents Dorothy was predeceased by her brothers, William Martin and John Douglas Gardner; sisters Lula Leigh Summerlin and Judy Carol Gardner. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Lemuel Green Tant, Sr. of the home; sons, Lemuel Green Tant, Jr. and wife, Robin of Greenville, NC and Joey Marshall Tant and wife, Amy of Wilson, NC; brothers, Clifton, James and Kenneth Gardner; sisters, Eunice Faye Harrell and Linda Ann Morris; grandchildren, Kayla and Aidan Tant. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, NC from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Funeral service for Mrs. Tant will be held in the Chapel of Joyner’s Funeral Home on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM with The Reverend Dr. Rusty Russell and Reverend B.L. Efird officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Peace Church, 2838 Tilghman Rd.
