Douglas Best Whitley, Sr. May 30, 1928 – November 13, 2020 Douglas Best Whitley, Sr., 92 of Wilson passed away Friday, November 13, 2020. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Doug is survived by his daughter, Sherri Whitley Jernigan and husband, Brad of Wilson; sons, Gray Kingsley Whitley of Wilson and Douglas B. Whitley, Jr. and wife, Cheri of Greenville; grandchildren, Douglas B. Whitley, III, Charles Whitley, Blythe Whitley, Reagan Jernigan and Olivia Jernigan; great-grandchild, Briar Whitley and his sister, Mary Ella Whitley Barnes of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Whitley; brothers, Calvin Whitley, William Whitley, Jr., Edward Whitley, Charles Whitley and Wallace Whitley and his long time companion, Jean Hill.
