Durrell Edward Ward

Durrell Edward Ward, 83, of Wilson, passed away Saturday. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday in Upper Black Creek Church Cemetery, Upper Black Creek Church Road, Lucama. The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 1408 Mercer Street. Durrell was retired from the U.S. Navy. Durrell is survived by his daughters, Barbara Jean Braswell of Ohio, Marie Utley and partner, Patsy of Bailey, Terri High and husband, Anthony of Wilson, Zebbra Kriger and husband, Steve of Wilson and Shanda Marie Shepherd of Wilson; his sons, James “Red” Price and wife, Patricia of Alabama and Charles Edward Ward and wife, Lori of Middlesex; seventeen grandchildren; ten great-children; his sister, Maxine Tyler of Florida; his longtime companion, Alma Wilkins of Princeton and his grand dogs, Zoey and Fifi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ward, his parents, Foy and Orene Ward and his brother, Jerry Ward.
