Earlie Gray Winstead

Earlie Gray Winstead September 13, 1933 – June 14, 2015 Earlie Gray Winstead, 81, of Elm City passed away Sunday. Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The Rev. Bryan Creech will officiate. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home. Earlie was a hard worker and retired after 46 years at Nexans (Teledyne Thermatics) and served his community where he retired as Chaplain of the Toisnot Rural FD. He also was a man of faith and retired as Deacon and Assistant Treasurer of Emmanuel FWB Church. Earlie is survived by his sons, Bunion Winstead and wife, Becky of Lake Royale and DeWayne Edwards and wife, Cindy of Spring Hope; his sister, Mae Lillie Stevens of Ahoskie; his three grandchildren, Holly Kidd, Katie Gupton and Chris Toney; his five great-grandchildren, Nickolas Toney, Isaiah Toney, David Toney, “Buddha” Hopkins and Jamerson Kidd.
